Word of the committee
Dear readers,
Our beautiful study association, Pharmaciae Sacrum (P.S.), is turning 143 years old this year. We are very excited to celebrate the Dies Natalis of P.S. with everyone for a whole week in February 2025. To make sure that the Dies Natalis is celebrated properly we have been carefully planning the festivities since March this year. We have been very busy to fill the week with fun, exciting activities and parties for the whole association. The theme and program of the Dies week were revealed at the AlDi Party on the 12th of December (the official Dies Natalis of P.S.). Now we can officially start the celebration of the Dies week! This year the theme of the Dies Natalis will be: ‘You are my RemeDIES’. Studying can be demanding and stressful for a lot of students. Luckily, we have our beautiful study association that brings students together. P.S. gives the students opportunities to do fun things together, learn together and get to know fellow students. It gives us a sense of mutual support from peers which can help us navigate academic challenges, mental health and the struggles of student life.
We hope the members of P.S. can find comfort in each other. We encourage you to take a good look at your fellow students during the Dies week and think about how they can be a remedy to you or how you can be a remedy to them! The Dies week will take place during the first week of February 2025. The week will be opened spectacularly with the Opening Party on Monday the 3rd. The celebration will take place at the bar ‘Dorst!?’. We will celebrate one of the best remedies to every problem together: ‘Love is the remedy’. Everybody is welcome to join, so make sure to bring all your friends along! On Wednesday the 5th of February, the Scientific Symposium will take place at Pathé Bioscoop Groningen. The theme of the Scientific Symposium will be: ‘You are my RemeDIES: the crucial role of donors in patient treatment’. Prof. dr. Daan Touw will lead the symposium as chairman. Six speakers will speak during this symposium about their profession in the field of organ transplantation. The speakers will talk about for example, complications during an organ transplantation surgery, the immunosuppressive tacrolimus, important differences between men and women in transplantation, how tissue is preserved, the role of a pharmacist in transplantation and organ transplantation in children. All members are welcome to enjoy the lectures combined with a lunch and a social drink afterwards. Wednesday evening we will continue the program with the Dies Reception. During the evening, it is possible to congratulate the board with the anniversary of the association. Invited guests can enjoy this evening while having a drink. The guests are welcome in 't Golden Fust' to congratulate the baord and have a drink. On the evening of Thursday the 6th of February, the Cultural Evening will take place. The members of P.S. will have the opportunity to show their creativity during the mosaic workshop. You individually make a bowl or tray to take home. In any case, it will be beautiful! You will work with tiles in different trendy colors and create your own unique mosaic work of art.
After some rest on Friday, we will continue the Dies week on Saturday the 8th of February with the Outdoor Day. To strengthen the bond between you and your fellow students, you will join forces at Outdoor International for a game of paintball. The indoor paintball arena has special light effects and a smoke machine making the whole experience extra exciting. To conclude the Dies week, we have a fantastic finale planned. All members are invited Saturday evening to join us at ‘Jamey Fitz’ for a delicious Gala Dinner. Here we will enjoy a three-course meal and some drinks. Afterwards, we head to the ‘News Café’ for our last party, being the fabulous Dies Gala Ball, dancing with your friends until the break of dawn. On behalf of the entire committee, I can say we are very excited for the Dies week and all the activities. I hope you are looking forward to the Dies as much as we do, and hope to see you all there!
On behalf of the 143rd Dies Committee,
