Word of the board
Dear reader,
As the wind blows through the streets, leaves fall from the trees, and we turn up the heat, it’s time to celebrate the 143rd Dies Natalis of G.F.S.V. “Pharmaciae Sacrum.” It’s not every day that the oldest student association in Groningen adds another year to its history. We celebrated this special occasion together during the AlDi party on the twelfth of the twelfth. At this event, the amazing program for the Dies Natalis and the Almanac were revealed. With both featuring delightful themes, we can look back on a successful AlDi celebration. Now that we’ve enjoyed the AlDi party, it’s time to look forward to the celebration of the 143rd Dies Natalis in February. As you know, this year’s theme is “You are my RemeDIES,” a theme that ties in perfectly with the study of Pharmacy. We as pharmacists develop our own ‘RemeDIES’. We spend hours in the lab preparing different elixirs to ultimately create the right medicine. I am thrilled that this year’s Dies Committee has chosen such a fun and pharmaceutically relevant theme. The committee has worked incredibly hard to put together an impressive program.
The Dies will kick off with the opening party on Monday evening, where we can toast to a great week ahead. On Wednesday, we have the Dies symposium with the theme “The crucial role of donors in patient treatment”. This is a highly interesting and important topic. In Pharmacy, this theme is also essential, as we, as pharmacists, can contribute significantly to organ donation. Questions that arise for me as a future pharmacist are: What medications need to be administered during a transplant, what drug should be given in case of rejection, and what can we do as a last resort? I am looking forward to having all these questions answered at the scientific symposium. Following the symposium is the reception, where guests can congratulate the board on the anniversary of the association over a drink. Thursday brings the cultural evening, and after a day of rest on Friday, we can enjoy the Outdoor Day on Saturday morning. To end with a bang, we’ll have the Gala Dinner and Gala Ball on Saturday evening, the perfect end to an amazing week of celebration. Finally, I would like to congratulate the Dies Committee on creating such a beautiful program. Without all their hard work, this week would not have been possible. I look forward to all the fun activities and the thought-provoking symposium. I can’t wait to celebrate the Dies Natalis together and enjoy these wonderful days with each other and “You are my RemeDIES.” It remains for me to wish you all a fantastic Dies Natalis, and I hope to greet many of you at the various activities.
Kind regards,
on behalf of the 143rd board of G.F.S.V. “Pharmaciae Sacrum,”
